Monterey Bay is a US Federally protected marine sanctuary area offshore of California's central coast. Founded in 1992, it is the largest US national marine sanctuary and has a shoreline length of 276 miles stretching from the Golden Gate Bridge southward to Cambria. Supporting one of the world’s most diverse marine ecosystems, it is home to numerous mammals, seabirds, fishes, invertebrates and plants in a remarkably productive coastal environment.


A native of California, Santa Cruz Fish Company Founder, John Battendieri, has been passionate about fishing since an early age. Nearly 20 years ago John decided to combine that passion with an acquired expertise in sustainable seafood and organic products to address the emerging market demands for available fresh seafood. Santa Cruz Sustainable Fish Company is dedicated to supporting this effort locally and promoting sustainable seafood harvesting practices around the world.
